forms, sheets, and maps
DFI: Session 4 Friday 21 September
Yah, after finding my Blog had been suspended for naughty behaviour, I still don't actually know what that was, I've been allowed back in.
Google Forms
I have completed a few google forms but I have never prepared one.
Today I prepared a form named "Munchies." It was used to discover what type of snacks people ate and how often they ate them.
I enjoyed that in preparing a form the formatting is at your finger tips.
The thing I found most difficult was preparing a question where I could use a linear question format. After looking at the results, the linear question format did not really fit the actual question.
My Maps
For My Maps we had to answer 2 questions: What was your best international holiday destination ever? and choose TWO destinations (provided) for your next holiday. With the results we could map the answers onto My Maps.
My Maps allows you to add layers to your map.
Exciting stuff, I'm a HUGE fan of spreadsheets. They can be daunting at first but once you get the hang of them, they are brilliant, and huge time savers.
I choose Amelia's blog to work with.

Pepeha
I had fun designing the slides for my pepeha.
I especially love the picture I used for my awa, which is in fact a picture of the Taieri River.

Spring Cleaning
Session 2: Spring Cleaning
Today I had a BIG clean up of my e-mails and bookmarks; and although I did manage to delete a couple I maybe shouldn't have, it was still rather satisfying. Over 1000 e-mails gone, most of which I had not opened and read.
Onetab is the highlight of my day. My partner often teases me about the number of tabs I have open at a time...now I can hide them from him.
Using Onetab will make it easier to organise the pages you are using without having to close the pages you want kept open.
I'll need to work on Toby mini a little more to see if it is an app I would use.
Hangouts worked out well, but hangouts with quicktime player not so much...that was a bit troublesome.

Manaiakalani

I thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of Manaiakalani, especially as it was started without the
number of technical resources we have available today.
Google KEEP...that’s a keeper!!! I have so many ‘to do lists’ as documents, folders, and even scraps
of paper and seem to often lose them. The fact that I can add to a list when I’m not in front of my
laptop will be so beneficial.
I’m really excited about voice typing. I was looking for another activity for my reading tumble and
I’m going to add voice typing to it. I used to wonder why or what value students recording
themselves speaking had, but I can see how beneficial this could be to students. I like the idea
of students then having to ‘edit’ their work.

It will be a perfect example for learn, create, share.

I created (at least started creating) new signs for my classroom rubbish collection.
